About Me.
I have over 10 years of experience working with first generation, low income students and their families in several school districts. I have worked for both a state GEAR UP grant and partnership GEAR UP grant in North Carolina and South Carolina. As a license North Carolina Principal Administrator and Teacher, I completed my school-based clinical administrative residency through the Piedmont Triad Leadership Academy (PTLA) with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. PTLA was a federally funded initiative by the NC Race to the Top grant that allowed me the opportunity to learn through action-learning leadership to improve curriculum and instruction in high needs schools. I have presented at the National GEAR UP Conference on “Moving from Boredom to Engagement” as participates engaged in several research based instructional strategies. I believe in "Transforming Teachers to Leaders and Leaders to Agents of Change" and am committed to the work of doing what is best for children. Recently, I published my first book "Why Did My Pastor Have to Die? The Pain of letting go" that discussed the pain of a loss of a pastor but finding the hope of destiny on the other side of the loss
